Welcome to summer! Memorial Day weekend has become a most popular American holiday and tradition. It marks the beginning of summer and rings in a slower, more relaxed atmosphere where people enjoy recreation and each other.

Although heart warming, this is not the purpose of Memorial Day. Now, more than ever, we need to pause and remember the true meaning of this holiday. Throughout history, America has relied upon the men and women of the military to serve and protect our country. Unfortunately, many of these years have seen us engaged in conflicts.

Memorial Day is a time to pause, remember and honor the veterans who lost their lives in defense of this nation.
